ACA Covid-19 Guidance

RMCC Members:

If you are an ACA member, you probably got this in your inbox recently. For others, you may not remember that the RMCC is an ACA affiliated Paddle America Club. In part, that means we get our club (and event participant) liability insurance through the ACA,* but we also benefit from their thoughtful guidance. The attached is ACA guidance regarding paddling events during the Covid-19 pandemic. The guidance is specific to instructors and event coordinators, but it identifies issues that we must all consider.

RMCC has cancelled our early season events — in part to comply with Colorado-specific Emergency Orders and Covid guidance. As we start to hold RMCC events, we will likely add Covid-related requirements, e.g., mask wearing and maintaining social distance, to avoid contributing to the epidemic. But PLEASE REMEMBER that each of us is primarily responsible for our own safety during all boating events. Make your event participation decisions accordingly.

And please don’t hesitate to address questions or concerns to me (gvmutz@gmail.com) or to a particular event coordinator.

* Founded in 1880, The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a national nonprofit organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling, stewardship support to help protect paddling environments, and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition, exploration, and recreation.
