SUMMARY:Cleanup Paddle at Union Reservoir. Tues.\, June 3\, 9:15 am- about 1 pm.
DESCRIPTION:This is an ACA paddle\, so a person who is not an ACA member will be required to purchase an ACA event membership for $10.00 and to complete an ACA Waiver & Release of Liability form (adult or minor). \nEach participant will also need to sign a City of Longmont waiver\, to be emailed\, which you will need to print out\, sign\, bring with you. \nThe City of Longmont has agreed to waive their entrance and boating fees for participants. \nThe reservoir is low this year and it may impact birds\, but in the past the selection of birds found at Union\, included yellow-headed black birds\, coots\, grebes\, eagles\, herons\, pelicans\, osprey\, and red-tailed hawks.  Earlier this year\, there were avocets and yellowlegs. \nIt’s a great place to paddle\, especially with the fee being waived.  It is located east of County Line Road in Longmont. \nDate:              Tuesday\, June 3\, 2025 \nDirections:      From Boulder or Longmont\, travel east on CO 119 to East County Line Road.  (The new UCHealth Hospital is on the Northwest corner of this intersection).  At the traffic light\, turn left (north).  You will go over a set of railroad tracks.  County Road 26 will be the next right.  Distance from CO 119 to CR 26 is about 3/4 mile.  Take a right\, travel east for about 1/2 mile\, then turn north (left) into Union Reservoir. \nGoogle:           https://goo.gl/maps/ZVmAwoY3ZFBLaR568 \nStart Time:      Meeting time is 9:15\, Ready to paddle at 10 AM. \nLunch:             How about if we plan to meet back at the put-in by noon or so for a group (bring-your-own) lunch. Some participants may decide to go back out and paddle/bird/collect more trash.  This may be weather dependent. \nFor participants\, the City of Longmont will waive the entrance and boat fee. \nThe entrance booth attendant will know we are coming but will not have a list of people but rather will be relying on a placard (to be emailed to participants) which you will need to print out and place on your dashboard.   I will have my cell phone with me so please call 720-210-8858 if anything comes up. \nEach participant will need to sign a City of Longmont Waiver.  (to be emailed to participants) which you will need to print out\, sign it\, and bring it with you. \nPFD required (A no brainer for our group). \nThe city will provide trash bags and neoprene gloves\, which I will be picking up from the volunteer coordinator and bringing along. \nRSVP required to Anne Fiore:  anne_fiore@yahoo.com

SUMMARY:Gunnison R.\, Delta to Whitewater. June 21-23\, 2025. 3 days\, 42 miles. Class II.  ACA trip
DESCRIPTION: NO SIGNUPs before  June 10th \nThis is an ACA trip – if you are an ACA member\, e-mail me your membership number – if you have an Online Waiver\, you can send me a copy of that.  Except for people with a valid online waiver\, you will need to fill out an ACA waiver for the trip (BRING YOUR # with you – you need it for the waiver form).  If you are not an ACA member\, then you need to pay the $10 per person insurance fee.  Since this is an ACA trip\, and since it is Class II – you must have a helmet for the CII rapids (NO Bike Helmets).  \nThere are 2 Class II rapids.  I don’t recall how low I have ever run the Gunny\, but I recall one summer trip that we had to walk the boats thru the rock garden instead of doing the normal run for the first CII – we will scout the first rapid.  The second CII can be avoided – it is at Dominguez canyon – a left channel (with a killer undercut rock) will avoid the CII\, which is right of the island.  There is also a rock dam to negotiate about 6 miles down river – it is not a problem\, but must be run at far left and be prepared for swirly water there.  This run is easier in higher water than low. \nNo dogs or little kids – guests may be allowed\, if its cleared with me first. Day 1 is 28 miles\, so no slow boats  \nYou need to provide your own river toilet.  Temps should be fairly mild – expect highs in the 70s and lows about 50 at a guess.  Plan for two nights camping. And  plan on a very early Monday\, to get down river  hopefully before the winds kick up. \nI will be working on the shuttle arrangements later – hopefully we will be able to park vehicles at the Lazy S motel in Whitewater. . – still a work in process right now. \nSign up with trip coordinator. mat bozek.  matbozekx at gmail.com    No sign ups before  June 10\, 2025! \n***CAUTION –  If I can obtain a permit for Loma to Westwater for the 24th\, this trip will not end at Whitewater – This will add 13 more miles and one more night to the trip so it would be 3 nights/4 days and there will be one mandatory portage around the Redlands Dam – 3/10 mile portage\, and there is one more Class II rock garden rapid upstream from the dam – this addition is dependent on having sufficient water and on obtaining the permit for camping in Ruby/Horsethief.

SUMMARY:Cancelled. Jefferson River Canoe Trail- Montana Twin Bridges to Missouri River Headwaters State Park. Class I. June 27-30.
DESCRIPTION:Trip cancelled. \n     The Jefferson River Canoe Trail encompasses the entire 80-mile length of the Jefferson River\, along with fishing access sites\, campsites\, hiking trails\, conservation easements\, state lands and state parks\, and adjacent BLM and Forest Service lands. Public lands along the river are designated as leave-no-trace camping.  The Jefferson River Canoe Trail retraces by water an essential segment of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail. The Jefferson River is entirely Class I water\, suitable for beginning paddlers\, except during runoff.  I plan to start floating from Twin Bridges and take out near the Missouri River Headwaters State Park. The river may be a good place for wildlife viewing.  The Jefferson River Canoe Trail presently includes nine marked designated camping areas\, including four sites on BLM land\, two on state lands\, and three properties acquired for the public by the Jefferson River. It could take three or four days depending on how fast the group paddles. Much of the river should be braided and slow moving\, depending on water flows. \n Hazards include diversion dams\, possible logjams and narrow channels. \nThis is an ACA trip. ACA membership (and signed waiver) or $10 ACA Event fee (and signed waiver) required. \nFlow Gauge: Twin Bridges \nShuttle: Fee Required \n–Pack in water required.  Use a portable toilet to pack out human waste \n  Pack it in\, pack it out \n To wash dishes\, please carry water 200 feet away from the river and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater \nMontana: Boat Inspection/paperwork Required-https//fwp.mt.gov/conservation/aquatic-invasive-species/rules \nWyoming: AIS Stickers/decal- https://wgfapps.wyo.gov \nContact Trip Coordinator Louise Richards for more information and to sign up: louisemrichards1199 at gmail.com \n
