Winter Canoe Instruction at Myers Pool

Develop your canoeing skills during the winter, so that you’re ready to start the season in style!

RMCC member Jeff Oxenford is organizing canoeing classes this winter on January 11th and February 8th during the Meyers Pool sessions.  The classes will be taught by RMCC canoeing instructors and will focus on basic strokes and technique in 2 hours sessions, starting at 10 AM. We will also take advantage of the warm water to practice basic self-rescue skills.  It will be a great place for beginners and kids to get started. For intermediate and advanced paddlers, it’s a chance to brush up on your skills.

Because we share the pool with others, we’re going to work with solo and tandem canoes on different days. Instruction will be:

  • Tandem canoeing – January 11
  • Solo canoeing – February 8

The classes will be free, although you will need to pay the $9.50 pool entrance fee and, if you’re not an ACA member, the $5.00 single-event ACA membership fee.  You must provide your own boat, paddle, and PFD.

Registration is required so we know how many people are coming. Contact Jeff Oxenford at [email protected]  if you’re planning to take advantage of this incredible opportunity!
