RMCC -Poudre Paddlers trips and new RMCC trips

Roger Faaborg of PP has invited interested RMCC paddlers to join them on two upcoming North Platte River trips.  Since these aren’t RMCC trips nor are they ACA sanctioned, they won’t appear on our calendar but they’re great trips and Kathy and I highly recommend them (we’ve done then both with PP). See details below.

RMCC has an excellent schedule of trips for the year but its still growing – look for details soon on a flatwater trip (Gross Reservoir) and a river trip (North Platte Glendo to Guernsey).

And speaking of flatwater trips, HELP!  Most of the veteran RMCC trip coordinators are primarily river paddlers but we know we have members interested in flatwater events. So we need your help! If you would like to set up a trip (especially in the Denver and points south area), let us know! We’ll be glad to help you with the paperwork and logistics for putting a trip together.

PP trips

1) Springtime in Saratoga May 8-9

The actual float is Saturday morning, but most people camp near
Saratoga on Friday night. There is an optional meeting at the
bar of the Hotel Wolf Friday evening where we can eat, drink,
and talk about the next day’s float.

Rating: 1+ The river will probably be flowing at 2000-3000 cfs,
so it moves pretty fast and there is a lot of cold water.
You need some river experience and you need to be able to avoid
trees (strainers) that have fallen in the river. Wear quick
drying clothing or bring extra clothing in a dry bag to change
into if you get wet.

2) Six Mile Gap June 5-7

Rating: Class 2 whitewater. Douglas rapids may be a 3 if the water is high.
Douglas can be portaged. Your boat will be filled with camping equipment.

Location: We put-in at the Six Mile Gap campground near the Colorado border

Description: We camp two nights on the river and float from pine tree
forest down to cottonwoods. The scenery is beautiful.
A full description of the float is available here:

Please let me know if you are going in case there are last minute changes.
