Paddling the North Platte River in Wyoming from Saratoga, WY to I80, will be a two night – three day trip. A maximum of 12-13 people can go on the trip as the 2nd campsite is a private one and limited in space. It is a lot nicer than the BLM site across the river. I will also leave on Thursday afternoon to get a campsite for us at Pick Bridge since it is a popular site. Anyone who can go and help me with that would be a big help. I have planned the trip for early June as the river drops faster the later the trip. Good paddling skills and maneuvering ability are needed as there are rocks, etc. and on the last day (Sunday) there is a rancher’s irrigation set up that will needed to be scouted which can be the hardest part if the water is not high enough. We will also stop at the Oregon trail Cemetery on Saturday and hike up to see it. Once I have the list of people going, I will send out more detailed information.
Your craft will need a Wyoming permit and to be inspected at a Wyoming inspection site for invasive water species. We also have a 1.5 hour each way shuttle from the put in to the take out. I need to have everyone there early enough to run the shuttle. For those who can come on Thursday afternoon, it’s possible we can move a few vehicles then. We will work this out. At the put in and takeout, we will put a paper plate with RMCC on it so the police can keep an eye on the vehicles. I made arrangements last time with the Carbondale County police to keep an eye on our vehicles. I have never had problems but extra eyes don’t hurt.
