If you would like to borrow a book or if you would like to add books to our loaner collection, please contact Anne Fiore at [email protected]

Though we have books that were donated anonymously or individually, a large portion of our books were donated by Georgia Briscoe or by Jill and Bob Stecker (Stoecker). See below for books in those collections and information about the donors.

The Stecker Book Collection

Jill and Bob Stecker (Stoecker) were long time members, officers, instructors, competitors and inspiration for the RMCC. Before moving to Oregon, the Stoeckers donated a collection of books including canoeing/kayaking how-tos and boating guides for rivers from east to west coasts. According to Jill, when they started competing in whitewater slalom racing (in the mid 1990’s), the race announcers never knew how to pronounce their ‘difficult’ German name. So they dropped the ‘o’, making it easier to pronounce and kept it Stecker for all canoeing activities.
