Arkansas Day Trip – Florence to Pueblo Reservoir

This class II day trip is about 20 miles (depending on which put-in and the lake level) of cold water and likely strainers, so I am only taking more experienced paddlers (those who can come around a bend to find a strainer and quickly ferry the river to avoid it) on this initial exploratory club trip.  An early portage is probable, and the takeout may involve an uphill hike.  We will camp 2 nights at Indian Springs Ranch Campground (elevation 5800 feet) near Penrose to be reserved by Karen 7 days before the trip.  Group rate is $10/person/night and they also have a pool and a 2 hour history-fossil tour ($10).  Camp hosts would give us the indoor pavilion for our music and maybe lefsa too!!  We want 350-800cfs and good weather or will postpone it to May 3^rd.  If the trip goes well and strainers are rare/manageable, it will be repeated in August for less experienced paddlers along with a higher elevation US Forest Service camp.  Limit 12 paddlers.

This is an ACA-sanctioned event, so current membership in the ACA, or a $5 per person ACA fee is required.
