Cancelled. Colorado River: Cisco Landing to Lower Onion Creek. Sat/Sun, June 10 & 11

June 10, 2023 @ 8:00 amJune 11, 2023 @ 5:00 pm

Cancelled, due to high water concerns.
This will be an ACA-sanctioned outing/event which requires either ACA membership OR a $10/person insurance fee.
Although flatwater/Class I the entire way, this trip is happening during what will likely be spring runoff so the Colorado River will be full & flowing fast. Good boat handling skills will be important.
We have Group Site A at BLM’s Dewey Bridge Campground on Utah Hwy 128 reserved for the nights of Fri, June 9 & Sat, June 10. No  water at the campground but vault toilets are available. The camping fee will be shared among those of us who stay there. Hotels are available in Fruita, CO (1 hr) & Moab, UT (45 min) for anyone who prefers not to camp.
Saturday morning,  we’ll gather at the campground, drive to the put-in at Cisco Landing & float a somewhat remote, rarely-run 16-mile section of the Colorado River thru desert & ranchland back to our campsite at Dewey Bridge. Lunch along the river.
Sunday morning,  we’ll launch at Dewey Bridge to enjoy 8 miles of spectacular red rock scenery as we paddle to our take-out at Lower Onion Creek. Lunch along the river. We’ll likely arrive at the take-out by early afternoon.
An evening hike at nearby Fisher Towers or along the Amphitheater Trail might interest paddlers who are also hikers.
