It’s canoe time! Take a peek at RMCC’s upcoming activities


Hope you have a fairly open calendar for the next two months because RMCC is offering you opportunities to fill it with exciting trips and extraordinary classes! Be sure to go to the event calendar on the club’s website at k5k.c0b.myftpupload.com for further descriptions and registration information about the following fun-filled activities.

  • Saturday, March 19 – Canoe Rigging and Packing Class. This free class demonstrates techniques to efficiently and securely pack for weekend or multi-day canoe camping trips.
  • Saturday March 26 – Annual Joint Clubs South Platte Paddle Day. Join members of RMCC, Poudre Paddlers, Rocky Mtn. Sea Kayaking Club, and Pikes Peak River Runners for a grand group paddle down South Platte class I water. Great for novices and families….be sure to bring your friends! (In case of bad weather April 2 has been designated as the backup date for this event. )
  • Tuesday, March 29 – South Platte River: C-470 to Union Ave, for advanced beginners or more experienced boaters, this is a great early season paddle down a relatively flat urban stretch of the river with class II and class III pool drops (all class III rapids can be portaged).
  • Open Pool Practice Sessions offer you a chance to brush up on old skills while practicing new ones in the warmth of the George Myer Pool from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on March 20 and April 3, 17, and 24. The pool entrance fee is $9.75 per person.
  • Sunday, April 3 (and possibly April 17) – Free tandem and solo canoeing classes at Meyers Pool.
  • April 23 – May 2 – Escalante River Packrafting Trip, an 8 day backpacking and class II float trip down a spectacular desert river with hikes up beautiful red rock canyons.
  • April 25 –  April 30 – Buffalo National River canoe camping trip in Northern Arkansas (this trip is currently full and a waiting list has been developed)
  • Saturday, April 30 – South Platte: Kersey to Kurner. A great way to warm up your paddling skill on an easily accessible class I stretch of river.
