Recent Website Changes

Recently several changes have been made to the Rocky Mountain Canoe Club’s website, https://rockymountaincanoeclub.net/, and the most visible change is the addition of links to our forums on the home page.  The other changes are new forms to use for requesting an invitation to join our Google Group, and to request a new account on our website.  These new forms, Access Requests, can be accessed under Members in the top menu.

Any club members who have not joined the Google Group are encouraged to do so.  Our Google Group is great way to organize impromptu non-club trips, announce canoe and equipment sales, ask boating questions, and share information about paddling topics.  Once you are a member of our Google Group you can send an email to [email protected] and everyone in the group will get the email.  So far, this email group has not been excessively chatty, so you should not get a flood of new messages by joining.

You may be wondering what is the difference between the website forums and the Google Group.  Sending an email to the Google Group is very simple, just compose an email, attach files like pictures if you wish, and then send it.  Adding an entry in the forums takes a bit more effort, because you must login to the website before adding info in the forums (the login link is on in the bottom menu).  When you send a message to our Google Group it is broadcast to all Google Group members, whereas when you add a forum entry the readers must first navigate to our website to view it.   Our forums are like a bulletin board that is visible to the world, and the forums are good for building a repository of information. Our Google Group is a great way to get a message out to club members right away.

Please consider joining the Rocky Mountain Canoe Club’s Google Group if you haven’t already.  However, you do not need to request an account on our website unless if you plan to contribute to the forums or upload pictures into the Gallery.
