Use RMCC’s website to plan your 2020 adventures

The annual Planning and Permit Party is happening this Saturday, January 11th and the RMCC website, https://rockymountaincanoeclub.net/, offers valuable information that can help you determine what trips, classes, or conservation activities you might want to sign up for during the Permit Party or as club trips get scheduled on the RMCC Calendar. Begin your search using the Site Map located in the About section. This is a very handy way to navigate through the website and it has brief descriptions and convenient links to each section.

Start your trip planning by clicking on the Suggested Rivers Trip. This is a list of popular rivers (such as the Colorado, Green, Poudre, North and South Platte) and the class I-III sections that can be canoed. For those of you who are new to canoeing we suggest you take a look at the Class I trips. We also have several outings every year on nearby lakes and reservoirs. It is easy to review the trips offered this year and previous years by clicking the Calendar button. This calendar can be viewed by lists (probably the best way to view the activities if you want to see an entire year’s offerings) or by month. You can then click on previous trips or classes that interest you and read the detailed descriptions.

If a particular trip piques your interest go to the Trip Reports and see if a report has been written. Here you will find a treasure trove of information about each trip including the route that was taken, the time of year, water conditions, and the exciting activities the participants experienced during that trip. Many of these trip reports include photos. If you are only interested in the pictures click directly on the Photo Gallery.  Before the club went digital, hard copy newsletters were published from 2011-2013. There are also a number of trip reports and photos included in these informative RMCC Newsletters.

RMCC offers an array of classes including canoeing essentials on flatwater and moving water, pool technique practice at Meyers pool, and how to pack and rig your boat for overnight trips to name just a few. The 2020 class schedule will be listed soon and can be found both on the Instruction site or on the club Calendar.

Recently RMCC has renewed its focus on volunteer conservation activities and in 2019 developed and awarded its first RMCC River Conservation Award. Information about club conservation news and the conservation award can be found at the Conservation and Service section.

So HAPPY PLANNING, we hope to see you at the January 11th Permit Party!
