Thanks to the generous donations of two tandem Old Town canoes (one of which was subsequently stolen and the value reimbursed to the club), we are now able to loan a tandem Old Town Discovery 158 to members.
See the website Canoe Loan page https://rockymountaincanoeclub.net/canoe-loans/ for details on how to borrow the canoe (through our new Boat Master Miry Broughall) and the Club Equipment page https://rockymountaincanoeclub.net/members/club-equipment/ to borrow our other equipment (through our Quartermaster Zach Allen). Both are centrally located in Broomfield.
While most of our loaner equipment is available for both RMCC-ACA events AND personal use of members, the canoe is available only for ACA-sanctioned events because our ACA liability insurance only applies to our ACA-sanctioned events.*
Thanks to former member Geof Stimack for getting us started on the canoe loan program with the original donation and to current members Doug and Helen Kretzmann for their/our Old Town Discovery 158! Thanks also to Tom Ging and David Steinhoff for helping us acquire, repair, and offering to store a canoe, to John McLean for donating a throw rope/bag, and to Miry Broughall for donating a paddle, storing the canoe, and (in advance) for implementing the loan program.
Any questions? Don’t hesitate to ask — our Boat Master, Quartermaster, and yours truly are all listed on our website Contacts page — https://rockymountaincanoeclub.net/contacts/
*Regarding liability — If someone borrows a groover for a personal trip and falls off or drops it on their foot, we’ll just deal with it if the borrower is absurd enough to sue the club!
