Henry and I paddled Chatfield Reservoir today (Monday) to see what conditions may be like for Saturday’s trip. The trees are in full fall color and the birds were numerous: a king fisher, pelicans, great blue herons, Canadian geese, cormorants, and many more. The reservoir is 98% full which is a fun level that allows you to paddle in and out of hidden coves and see a lot more wildlife than you do when the water is lower. The conditions on Saturday are forecasted to be sunny with a high of 60 degrees so come join us for RMCC’s last scheduled trip of the season. If you don’t have an Annual State Parks pass the fee to get into Chatfield is $10 per vehicle. This is an ACA sanctioned event so if you are not an ACA member there is a $5 event fee per person.
Meet at the King Fisher Parking Lot at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 16th and be ready to paddle by 10:00. Mornings are chilly so dress warmly but it will warm up considerably by noon. We will be stopping for a break so bring food for a mid-morning snack/early lunch.
Please register by emailing Kit Williams at [email protected] so if conditions change we can get a hold of you.
