Upcoming Trips and Events

Paddling season is underway! Spring snow and some bad weather has stymied a few trips, but club members are out paddling and plans are being made for more trips. Today, some members participated in a boat rigging and packing class to gear up for multi-day canoe camping trips in their futures. And, next week an Essentials of Canoeing class is happening for those who desire a little instruction.

Several May trips are full with wait lists, but there are a couple of May and June trips that may have space available. The 3 day White River trip is May 18 -20. The 3 day North Platte from Saratoga to I-80 trip, is June 7-9 and has some space available. Check out details on the club calendar and contact the coordinator if interested. Also, June will likely bring some “local” day/evening paddles. Watch the Google groups emails, as some of these will come up as non-ACA pick-up trips.

Be sure to mark your calendars for this year’s Rendezvous at Radium August 2-5. The club will have a group site, but if you need/want your own site, make your reservations.

Looking forward to the Fall, Randy just posted a Google groups note about a potential September Colorado River, Meander Canyon trip for Sept. 10-13. For those who have done Stillwater Canyon of the Green River, Meander Canyon is the canyon the jet boat travels to bring people from Spanish Bottom back up to Moab. Contact him if you are interested.

Though the May “Missouri Breaks” trip had to be canceled, there is still a possibility of a fall Upper Missouri River trip. And, I expect more trips will be added to the summer/fall calendar, so keep your eyes out (Plus, I may have missed something in this note!). And, as always, remember that it is club members volunteering that makes trips happen!

Thank you!
