As we move into late summer, I’d like to reflect on our recent Rendezvous, mention upcoming paddles, and highlight our 50th Anniversary celebration — Coming Soon!
Rendezvous — We’ll have a more extensive trip report soon, but I want to thank Craig and Nita Flora for coordinating our annual Rendezvous at Radium on the Upper Colorado River this year. They did a fantastic job arranging and hosting and cooking and boating and carrying on our longstanding tradition of good boating, good friends, and good food for this annual event. We had 46+ participants in canoes, kayaks, duckies, packrafts and a dory — boating from Friday (Thursday??) through Monday (Tuesday??). The water level was perfect (in my opinion), the music extra fine, and the weather — Colorado.
Upcoming Trips — See the calendar for details, but we have one trip in progress and a few later this month and through September. If you want to host an additional club trip, contact our Tripmaster Brookie Gallagher; if you want to host a pick-up trip, especially a day paddle, please advertise it through the GoogleGroup.
50th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Meeting in November — This is our 50th anniversary year. Woohoo!! We have been “Riding the rivers since 1975“. and plan to celebrate at our annual meeting — a November date TBD soon. We welcome help with some anniversary-specific tasks in preparation. Please contact me if you want to help with our club history, commemorative mugs, or other ideas for the celebration.
Officer Elections — Our Annual Meeting will be more party than meeting, but we will elect officers for 2026. Please nominate yourself and/or one of your paddling buddies to run as an officer or co-officer.
This is my 8th and last year as President, but some others are willing to continue into the next year. That said, all of us welcome you to replace us or offer to serve as a co-officer. We will gladly help you transition into an officer or co-officer position.
See our description of officer positions for more information, or give me a call — 303-499-1092. We need good people — not necessarily expert boaters — to shepherd our club into our next half century.
Happy Paddling!
Kathryn, Outgoing RMCC President
