The trip will be 7 days and 6 nights. We will launch from Bullfrog and focus on the canyons beyond Escalante but short of Oak Canyon. These would include Ribbon Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Llewelyn Gulch, Reflection Canyon (leads to Cottonwood Gulch), Hidden Passage Canyon, Music Temple Bar, and Anasazi Canyon (leads to Moepitz Canyon And Lehi Canyon if there is enough water.
The Navigator houseboat that has been reserved is rated to hold 10 people, but with only 1 bathroom I want cap the trip at 7 or 8 people. Cost is estimated to be $870 for 8 people or $995 for 7 people, as we need to cover cleaning, gas, insurance, ice, etc. in addition to the houseboat rental. I will need to collect $700 by February 15. And, a payment of about $2-300 will be needed in August. I would do the final adjustment at the end of the trip once we know what we spent on gas.
The cost for this 7 day houseboat trip has increased quite a bit since we did the 2023 trip, but if you compare it to most commercial trips that average $400 per day or more, I think it is fairly reasonable. We saved about $900 by booking the boat super early (we booked in 2024) . Booking early also allowed us to get the dates that we wanted.
Shared dinners and other items would be similar to our past trips. Most of us could camp in Starr Springs Campground 27 miles short of Bullfrog the night before our launch.
