Summer SUNsational Trips


SUNsational trips and outdoor adventures are what we have in store for you this summer.  Take in the beauty of the red rock canyon country around Moab, experience a whitewater adventure on the Arkansas, paddle down the Green River into Flaming Gorge reservoir, or delight in the bounty of birds & wildlife along the North Platte River. And don’t forget the club’s biggest event of the year, the Rendezvous on the Colorado River the first weekend in August!

Colorado River Trip near Moab, June 25 & 26

Two class I (no waves without wind) day trips on the Colorado River from Cisco landing to Dewey bridge. This beautiful stretch is on the high Colorado plateau with great views of the La Sal Mountains. We will try to camp near Dewey bridge and do “postcard alley” into the Colorado riverway near the Moab daily on Sunday (a shorter day).  If interested contact Janet Mallory 720-236-5308 or janetrpm@gmail.com . Arkansas River: Salida area, July 1 – July 4

Explore the beautiful Arkansas River near Salida through 4 individual day trips ranging from 6-10 miles a day through class II and III water. Although some of the rapids having long continuous sections, this will not be the classic/bigger rafting/kayaking sections. Participants can choose to paddle any or all four days. Green River from Green River Wyoming to Flaming Gorge Reservoir, July 2 – July 4

Put in at Green River, Wyoming on Saturday July 02. Paddle 10 miles on the Class 1 Green River, then up to another 5 on Flaming Gorge Reservoir and camp. On Sunday, paddle up to 15 miles on the reservoir which may include exploring the Black Fork Arm. On Monday, Paddle up to 15 miles to Brinegar Crossing (aka Holmes Crossing) to our take out. Glendo to Guernsey: North Platte River in Wyoming, July 16 – July 17

RMCC members and quests are welcome to float the North Platte River from Glendo Reservoir almost to Guernsey Reservoir. This is a fun, day long paddling trip on Class I+ water with one Class II section of standing waves that can be avoided; helmets required here. The float is on Saturday, July 16.  We will be camping in Two Moon Campground in Glendo State Park on Friday night before the trip as well as Saturday night for those attending an optional  potluck. North Platte River: Saratoga to I-80, July 22 – July 24

Join RMCC for this Class I run through beautiful Wyoming landscape, just a half-day drive from Denver. This is a 3 day, 2 night canoe camping trip. We’ll complete the car shuttle Friday morning and begin paddling in the afternoon, camping at Pick Bridge that evening. The next day we will be paddling most of the day with a stop at the Overland trail cemetery/historical site 8. We paddle Sunday morning and plan to take out between noon and 1:00, allowing people time to return home Sunday afternoon or take a leisurely soak in the nearby Saratoga hot springs. A Wyoming invasive species sticker on your boat is required. Colorado River at Radium Annual Rendezvous, August 6 – August 7

Join us for the annual summer RMCC get-together! Day trips, camp cooking competition, potluck supper, pancake breakfast and much more!
