Gunnison River from Escalante Bridge to Whitewater
September 3-5
This stretch of the Gunnison River is mostly easy, moving water, but it has 3 Class II rapids, so bring your helmets. We usually do a layover camp at the mouth of Dominguez Canyon, but the lower water levels in late summer may adjust our camping locations. In any case, we will hike up the scenic red-walled Dominguez Canyon to see the wonderful 40′ waterfall and carved igneous rocks, and perhaps go further. You will likely see colorful lizards, and occasionally there are bighorn sheep up on the cliffs. For further information or to register for this trip contact Karen Amundson at [email protected].
