Green River from Flaming Gorge Dam thru Swallow Canyon

September 4, 2021September 6, 2021

(This trip is currently full and a waiting list has been started)

River Classification:

Section A:  Class II – II+ pool drop plus the II+ Mother-in-law Rapid; COLD water

Section B:  Red Creek Rapid = Class III (portage/line on river left)

Section C:  Class I+

Campgrounds:

Friday night we have a very large (75 people max) site #3 at the Arch Dam Group Campground just 1 mile from the dam.  Saturday we will have a pair of river camps to be reserved 6 months ahead.  Sunday we will have the group site at the Indian Crossing Campground, a quarter mile from Jarvie Ranch Historical Site.  And if part of the group wants to go further and try their luck with a couple of non-reservable sites 5 miles downstream, we may split into 2 groups.

Max 30 people:

On river camping limits us to 30 people.  We have that many, so another Wait List might be started.

Costs and Equipment:

The 3 nights of reserved camps (payable at the 1st camp) will cost about $8-10 per person if we maintain the full trip size and go up a bit if we lose people.  Car shuttle will be $17-25 per car, depending on the number of vehicles.  Whitewater skills, cold water clothing (in case of flip), helmets, throw rope and painters are required.  This is an ACA trip and you will need to pay $10 if you are not an ACA member.

Contact Karen Amundson at canoekarena@msn.com for a more detailed information sheet or to be added to the Wait List.
