September 27, 2014October 5, 2014

We’ve reached our maximum number of paddlers for this event.  Contact Candace if you would like to be placed on a waiting list.

Paddle and hike the Stillwater Canyon section of the Green River in Utah through Canyonlands National Park.  From the put-in at Mineral Bottom to the Confluence of the Green and Colorado River it is 52 miles and suitable for beginners at Class I.   8 days and 7 nights will give us time to do numerous hikes such as Horsethief Canyon, Bill Millers cabin, Fort Bottom area, Turks Head, Horse Canyon Pool, Shot and Water Canyons loop.  The hikes will feature panoramic views, arches, pictographs, granaries and cowboy artifacts.  If you don’t want to hike you can relax near the river.

We will use Tex’s Riverways for the drop-off shuttle and jet boat ride out.  Cost for shuttle/jet boat ride, permits, boat transport and shared toilet approximately $210 plus $5 for ACA insurance if you are not a member of ACA.  Canoe rental is also available From Tex’s, see web site http://www.texsriverways.com.

In order to do the hikes and arrive before dark at our scheduled destinations, we plan to depart from camp between 8 and 8:30 each day.  2 of the nights will be in the same camp.

September 27 drive to Moab and camp overnight.  Board the shuttle the morning of September 28.  Jet boat pick-up on October 5 and return home late.

Send your deposit of $50  as soon as possible to hold your spot as space is limited on the shuttle.  Contact leader for additional details.  candace.winkle@comcast.net or 303-888-0559, e-mail preferred.”
