RMCC is organizing a canoeing class this spring on April 3 (and perhaps April 17) during the Meyers Pool sessions. The classes will be taught by RMCC and Poudre Paddler canoeing instructors and will focus on basic strokes and technique in 2 hours sessions, starting at 10 AM. We will also take advantage of the warm water to practice basic self-rescue skills. It will be a great place for beginners and kids to get started. For intermediate and advanced paddlers, it’s a chance to brush up on your skills.
Depending on the number of students, we will have one or two classes. If the class is small, we’ll have tandem and solo at the same time on the 3rd. If the turnout is large (as it was last year), we’ll have tandem and solo on different days. Instruction will be:
The classes will be free, although you will need to pay the $9.50 pool entrance fee and, if you’re not an ACA member, the $5.00 single-event ACA membership fee. You must provide your own boat, paddle, and PFD.
Registration is required so we know how many people are coming. Contact Bill Ashworth ([email protected]) if you’re planning to take advantage of this early season opportunity!
