Trip Details:
July 3-5 Trio of South Central CO Rivers
This trio will likely include the Taylor River, Lake Fork of the Gunnison and Rio Grande day trips as follows:
Day 0 – camp at Spring Creek Campground (cannot reserve)
Day 1 – 7 miles of class II-III Taylor River ending at Almont; secondary option would be up to 10 miles of the class II Gunnison River from Almont to Gunnison if there are enough people wanting an easier stretch or if we want more than the original 7 miles; camp at 1 of 3 BLM non-reservable small camps north of Lake City
Day 2 – 11 miles of remote, scenic class II-III Lake Fork of the Gunnison ending at The Gate Campground and/or 7 miles of class II Lake Fork from The Gate to the Red Bridge Campground; probably spend 2nd night at the same camp and drive thru Lake City and Creede early the next morning
Day 3 – a class II piece of the Rio Grande from Wagon Wheel Gap for between 7 and 11 miles to above South Fork. Limit 12 paddlers due to much moving around.
