Yellowstone and Grand Teton Lakes Trip: August 23 to August 31.
Backcountry group size is limited to eight per permit. This trip is divided into three sections, and participants can sign up all or any portion of the trip. Must arrive in time to purchase boat permits.
Part I: Arrive on Aug 22 to pick up boat permits to paddle Yellowstone Lake on Aug 23 for a Day trip to visit West Thumb Geyser Basin and Potts Hot Spring Basin a 5 mile paddle. Meet group at Lewis Lake Campground
Part II: Or arrive Aug 23 pick up boat permits and meet group at Lewis Lake Campground for Lewis Lake to Shoshone Lake Aug 24-27. Lewis Lake to Shoshone backcountry paddle up Lewis River Cannel requires wading while lining boats upstream in cold water at the entrance to Shoshone Lake. Spend 3 nights on Shoshone Lake visiting geyser basins and returning to Lewis Lake Campground on Aug 27.
Part III: Travel to Grand Teton Lake Signal Mountain Campground on Aug 28, Day paddle trip on the Snake River on Aug 29 return to Signal Mountain Campground. Aug 30: day paddle trip on String Lake to Leigh Lake returning to Signal Mountain Campground. On Aug 31 another day trip paddle on Grand Teton Lake to Elk Island back to Signal Mountain Campground.
This trip will require a National Park entrance Fee, boat permits, WY invasive species inspection tag, Campground fees, and group shared Backcountry permit fee. Backcountry camping food storage required. Visit Yellowstone National Park Backcountry Trip Planner at: www.nps.gov for more information.
This is an ACA-sanctioned trip requiring either ACA membership or a single-event ACA membership fee of $5.
